Cenotaph

About Cenotaph

The Cenotaph in Whitehall is a memorial to those who died as a result of the First World War. The Cenotaph is made from Portland stone and was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens.

On Rememberance Sunday (the second Sunday in November), poppy wreaths are laid on the Cenotaph by members of the royal family, politicians and the military.
