Nice Store
Was impressed by this store, especially the Egyptian theme. We had tea/scones in the Harrods Cafe, and found the staff very helpful and friendly - other stores could learn alot.
Try Harrods at HLR
We like Harrods. Good quality, nice people. But we have found thieir sale items and specials at the Heathrow Airport to be good buys. Tough to wait as they may not have what you want, but if it is a gift or getting rid of your pounds try it.
The Georgian Restaurant Harrods High Tea
We had High Tea at Harrods in the Summer of 2008. Just to say, very disappointing.
Picked it because of the fantastic decor, pianist on offer etc. And the fact that every time we have eaten in other eateries within the food halls the food has been superb. I didn't think Harrods could get it wrong.
Georgian restaurant wasn't very busy, which was fine. And people watching was fun! But the first impression when you sat at the table was how tired the crockery was. Harrods motif on each plate, white with gold rims on the lot, absolutely fitting for a Georgian Restaurant. But scratched off gold rims on everything - like it had seen too much washing up over the years and they couldn't afford to replace it all. i told the waiter my first impression - he shrugged like he really really didn't care at all.
Food. Well you got exactly what was described when I researched. Lovely scones, lovely cakes. All served very fast. But so so so disappointing - all the sandwiches were chilled, killing their flavour. Everything is served fast because they don't make it there and then for you - they bring it out ready made. And it pales by that.
Pay the extra and go to the Ritz!!!!
an amazing experience!!
visited harrod's for the first time while in london and it was a must do on my list, and i was not disappointed. when we entered the store it was breathtaking. we were in awe of it. ( we love shops anyway but had never seen anything like it.) we were walking around in a daze and just could not belive that you can buy anything there. we got a few things in the food hall as we had to have "a bag with harrods" on it. then we bought another few things and visited the christmas shop which was amazing too, it was too early but i could not resist it. we then went to the espresso cafe and bought a birthday lunch for my son which was gorgeous and the staff in the restaurant were fantastic and very friendly and welcoming. harrods is not cheap but everyone knows that and it is an experience i will always remember. we are planning to go back after christmas while in london again as there is so many departments you could spend all day there. all of the staff are very professional and this store has such a buzz about it........a must do when in london!!!
Somewhat interesting
Food halls and Egyptian escalator were interesting, but otherwise just a very large expensive department store. probably worth a short visit.
