Ride with Fat Tyre Bike Tours for an an exceptional view of the Royal Capital
Absolutely fantastic day that is definitely worth trying whether you are new to London or have spent all your life here. I decided to do this with a couple of my friends as part of a list of things to do for my birthday and I have to say it has been one of the best things I have done in a while.
Apart from the tour guides being really friendly, their passion for London and biking really enhanced the biking experience. The bikes were very good quality and individually named (I was 'William the conqueror'). The tour took us through scenic routes covering the royal parks and interesting sites such as Bukingham palace, Westminster, Princess Diana's park memorial and even stopped at Trafalgar square for lunch.
The tour went at a really good pace and we stopped frequently to receive short and interesting soundbites on the history of the area. It made riding really fun and since then, I have bought my own bike and am looking forward to discover more of London (though I have always lived here).
Fat Tyre Bike Tours is a refreshing way to spend a weekend/day, and you won't even realise you've done so much riding. Two thumbs up from me.
Best part of my 40th Birthday trip to London!
My Husband Paul secretly arranged this trip as part of my 40th b/day trip to London. Was initially horrified as I turned up wearing skinny jeans and high heels to be told we were going on a 4 hour cycling tour of London. I needn't have worried, the bikes were excellent and our guides Liam and David were 1st class. This was truly my favourite thing that we did and out did the west end show the night b4. We saw London from a completely different perspective, covered a fair distance but never felt tired. We had our 2 kids ages 10 and 8 with us. They loved it too and I would highly recommend anyone to go on this trip. BIG THANK YOU to liam and Dave! x
New Fat Tire Bike Tour - Southbank along the Thames
We piloted a new bike tour along the Thames on the Southbank. As usual, it was great --including explicit directions of where to meet outside Waterloo Station. David and Liam were full of information and as fun and professional as usual. One of the best things about the tour guides is their genuine enthusiasm for what they do. When Liam shares history about Shakespeare, you feel his interest and respect for Shakespeare's talent, and it makes learning new facts more interesting and memorable. The Borough Market was a great stop for lunch! I rode away with a backpack full of olives and the best pesto I've ever had. They are wise to recommend the Southbank tour for adults and older kids...compared to the original, it is a bit trickier --including biking across the Tower Bridge and negotiating crowded sidewalks along the river. I'm a huge fan of Fat Tire Bike Tours and will continue recommending it to others. So far, we have taken 22 friends and family to do the original tour over the past year and a half, and can't wait to take others!
Superb!
We were in London to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and as usual we used Trip Advisor to give us some ideas of tours etc. We came across Fat Tire Bike Tours and decided to give it a go. What an excellant way of seeing the sights of London. Matt, our tour guide was great and very knowledgable. He kept the tour at just the right pace so you could take in the sights. You also got to see parts of London you wouldn't see from the road. The tour we opted for took you through the parks, Kennington, St James and Hyde Park. It covered a lot of the main points of interests such as Buckingham Palace, Westminister and Trafalgar Sqaure. We did stop for a lunch break whilst at Trafalgar and went with Matt's recommendation for lunch at a pub which we found very nice. We will definately recommend Fat Tire Bike Tours and will hopefully get the opportunity to visit Berlin and Barcelona to try out their tours in those cities.
The only way to see London
Went on the "Southwark" bike tour and trust me it is well worth it! Excellent tour, bikes and tour guides. Excellent value for money and really great fun. Also includes a boat ride along the thames. The ride over the tower bridge is also a highlight where you will literally become the traffic. However, do not fear this is all completely safe and tour guides are watching out for you every bit of the way. Don't think about it any longer...just go do it. I loved it and I'm not even a confident cyclist and I'm from London and saw more of it on this tour than I have ever seen! Thanks to my other half -(from Oz haha) for taking me with her.
