Toptable says about Le Gavroche

toptable Dining Awards 2009 - Winner: Best for Romance & Runner Up: Best Over £45 & Best Celebrity Chef's Restaurant

Holder of two Michelin stars and, more importantly, winner of the Toptable Best Food award, Michel Roux Jr's Le Gavroche is among London's most well loved restaurants. An unimposing doorway in the heart of Mayfair leads in to a temple of gastronomy. Whet your palate with an aperitif in the cosy bar with its country house atmosphere before moving in to the classically designed main restaurant where crisp white linen meets heritage paint colours and tasteful artwork. There may be a dress code here but Le Gavroche is nonetheless unpretentious and comfortable - sink in to a comfortable chair and be spoilt for choice by some of the finest French food the UK has to offer and the pick of a 60,000 bottle wine cellar.

Lunch at Le Gavroche was the best dining experience I have ever had, non pretentious, excellent service and the 1st class food.

I will definately recommend it to friends and be returning myself.

We had the £49.50 set lunch, which included 3 courses, half a bottle of wine and water each plus coffee & petits fours. The choice of food was disappointing (unless you eat anything) and one of us ended up having a leaf salad to start; the other left her starter. Things improved with the mains, which were nice but nothing special. The cheese, desserts and petits fours though were delicious. All in all a great price to eat at such a prestigious restaurant and the ambience was great.

What a lovely way to spend a Wednesday lunchtime! Beautiful food, beautifully presented and attentively served. We had the set lunch, and although our main course of Guinea Fowl was very nice and succulent , it wasn't terribly exciting - we should have gone for the oxtail! The cheese board was superb and I never knew a bottle of wine could last so long - expertly paced and poured by a smiling and charming waitress.

Le Gavroche was absolutely great. The ambience is warm and comfortable and the stuff was friendly and efficient. We went for the tasting menu with matching wines and were not disappointed. If one could find any room to improve, it would be a sommelier perhaps. We did want to know a bit more about the wines served. Overall it was absolutely fantastic, and the evening pleasantly drifted away. Definitely coming back for the special occasion!

We went to Le Gavroche for lunch and decided on the lunch offer of 3 courses plus wine for £48 each, the food was delicious and was a work of art on the plate, we were both pleased with the chioces on the set menu. The staff were great especially Enrico he took us on a tour of the kitchen as it was my guests birthday which she loved. The restaurant is very old school and the decor is very plush and comfortable. we had a lovely lunch and I would highly recomend a visit. It was a perfect day.
