Tottenham Court Road is very unique because of all the tiles decorating the walls; it makes for an interestingly colorful experience traveling to this part of London. I usually whizz past this station and for the past couple of months up til november 2011, it had been closed due to renovations. To that I question, WHAT renovations?!
Not plastered, mosaic half done, escalators move funny and it still smells funny. Also Ticket barriers are a freakin' maze. I love how the signs before it was done said 'getting ready for Olympics 2012.' I love Boris's sense...more
I remember this station most for the busyness of it and the super long escalators where the eye can only just see the light at the end....
Plenty of tourists around this area making for a lot of poor lost souls.more
I had a dicky of a time looking for the entrance of TCR last night. No, it wasn't because I was drunk, and probably not because of my 6 months absence from London. I just didn't understand WHY oh WHY there is now a monster construction site sprawled in the middle of what used to be a perfectly busy road. Quite possibly the worst tube station in London. To get on the Central line:
1) You must descend 3 miles towards the center of the earth down a spiral staircase stuck behind tourists, old people and oblivious morons.
2) Then (and for those of you who understand irony and sarcasm, this is my favorite part) you must go UP A FUCKING ESCALATOR. Why the FUCK did you just make me walk down all...more
