Significant numbers of "Latin Americans" started arriving in the UK in the 1970s as political refugees.
From Chile, Colombia and other parts of the continent they found an opportunity to create a new life in the open city of London.
Over time, these numbers have been swelled by other Latin Americans arriving in the capital – from Ecuador, Cuba, Brazil, Colombia and elsewhere. They have brought their vibrant cultures and have created a new and thriving sector of the London economy.
