  • Animal Magic Weekend

    Guided walk

    13 Feb 2010 to 14 Feb 2010

With pony grooming demonstrations, animal feeding, rabbit and guinea pig handling tips and adorable donkeys to stroke, the weekend is always a winner with children - and adults. Visitors are able to pet the animals and talk to their handlers for information and advice. It's a wonderful start to the half-term week, bringing farmyard animals to the capital in Barnes, Richmond. As well as meeting the farm animals on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 February, visitors can also take advantage of a range of other children's activities throughout the month such as arts & crafts, Bird Café (create your own bird feeder) and 'The pellet & poo show' (discover what animals eat by examining what they leave behind). And children can also run free in their own adventure areas, the Explore and Discovery play zones. There are tours with guides each day, bird feeds with the wardens and 'guides in the hides' for tips and information on the wild birds on the reserve. This winter has seen the arrival of six bitterns - a record number for the centre - a rare, elusive visitor to the UK. The cold weather has lured them into London as it is slightly warmer than the surrounding countryside.

  • Bank Holiday Wildlife Talk
