Lonely Planet review of London Wetland Centre

Europe's largest inland wetland project, the 105-acre Wetland Centre was superbly transformed from four Victorian reservoirs in 2000 and attracts some 140 species of birds and 300 types of moths and butterflies - not to mention 100,000 visitors. You'll mainly see ducks, swans, geese and coots, although the odd heron and mandarin duck can also be found.
When the ducklings are young (in spring and summer) this is a wonderful place to come and watch the tame birds swim and play - they have no fear of humans, so you can come very close. A great outing for kids.
