Lonely Planet review of Monument

This is a huge memorial to the Great Fire of London of 1666. Wren's tower was built in 1677 and has panoramic views of London. It is exactly 60.6m from the bakery in Pudding Lane where the fire started, and exactly 60.6m high. To reach the viewing platform, just below a gilded bronze urn of flames, you will need to climb 311 narrow, winding steps.
