Toptable says about Comedy Cafe

The Comedy Café is one of the few purpose-built comedy clubs in London. So come on down to Shoreditch - it's a right laugh! You're not just booking dinner, though, but an entire evening of nice nosh, cocktails, stand-up, and funky music - all for a reasonable entrance fee. The food is suitably down-to-earth, and easy to share - Tex-Mex dishes, burgers, salads, nachos etc. Jugs of beer cost £11, while six Kir Royale's (champagne and cassis) are just £20. There are more bargains to be had between 6 and 7pm Friday and Saturday nights - the same nights that top comedians perform. Doors open at 6pm.

Veteran comedians Lee Evans and Ed Byrne have put crowds in stitches at this Shoreditch comedy showcase and 15 years after lift-off, it’s still going strong. Expect side-splitting stand-ups and some legendary parties. Punters get their own table and are expected to dine, choosing from tasty and affordable staples such as mezes, veggie burgers and beer at pub prices.

The Comedy Cafe is about the comedy, not the food, but they serve up high cholesterol, share friendly and tasty food while the jesters do their stuff.

The Comedy Cafe in Shoreditch was all in all a very enjoyable experience. The decor was cool, the acts were very funny, all acts including the compere had us in stitches. And the food was lovely once it eventually arrived. It seemed that unless you were having the "party package" you were not considered high priorty. So I'd rate service very poor but like I said all in all a good night apart from that.
