Making Play: Adventures in Creative Play through Contemporary Art
Workshop1 Apr 2008 to 1 Apr 2011
Making Play is the latest development in the growth of the SLGs education and outreach programmes over the past five years. Funded by the Big Lottery's Playful Ideas fund, Making Play is inspired by the possibilities of bringing together childrens play and contemporary art practice, the project includes six artist residencies over the next three years. The project involves three groups of children: those on the neighbouring Sceaux Gardens estate, Charlie Chaplin Adventure Playground and children looked after by Southwark Social Services.

Exhibition1 Apr 2008 to 1 Apr 2011
Andrea Masons new work, the Sceaux Gardens Estate Development Think Tank (Fun) Club, addresses the urgent issues of climate change and peak oil and is based in a former shop on the estate. Members of The Club created an allotment, designed tree houses, organised a Really Free Bring and Take Flea Market and took part in a Moving-Medley-Marathon. The artists residency culminated in a Manifesto for Change, performed by residents, followed by a bicycle powered debate exploring how art can effect social change.
