Little Venice

Just north of Paddington lies Little Venice. This picturesque pool of water where the Grand Union and Regent’s Canals meet, is home to a number of waterside cafes, pubs and eateries. From here you can take a boat trip or follow the tow path on foot and see how the winding waterway snakes its way through the heart of the city. You can head downstream past the charming regency streets of Madia Vale and on to Regent’s Park and Camden beyond, or follow this peaceful corridor upstream to the west and enjoy the tranquillity of the waterways that feel like a million miles from the hubbub of the roads and streets nearby.

Lovely un-discovered area in central London
Little Venice is a lovely relatively un-discovered area in central london. The Canal is the main feature with many walk path along the canal passing the boats and pretty homes along Bloomfield Rd. There isn't tons to do in Little Venice but if you are looking for a liesurely stroll in a pretty un-crowded area then I recommend it. Some highlights are Clifton Nursery which is suppose to be one of the best London and now has a very nice cafe you can spend hours chilling in among the garden plants. Amoul's has excellent home cooked food for lunches and cooked breakfasts' (but only on Sunday). Not many shops so other than a bite to eat (Raouls is also good but service tends to be hit or miss there) and a stroll along the canal, not much else. It is one of the prettiest little villages in central london and could easily be combined with St. Johns Wood that is up the road a mile.
Mugged in little venice at 3 in the afternoon in plain view of at least 5 people
i live in london (notting hill) i was visiting a friend and i was right near the canal (near where there is a boat that is a restaurant, there were at least a dozen people eating and drinking) i walked a little further down and i was about to enter a building a man wearing a motorcycle helmet attacked me for my watch. i struggled. but he still continue to drag me to through the ground. i kept screaming for people to help me. there were at least 5 people around and no one intervened. that is a london trademark, you can be being killed on the street and no one helps you (please dont forget that, its happened to others i know as well)
bottom line? if you can get mugged by two thugs (one was waiting on a bike) at 3 pm in a sunny day with 5 people watching, probably is not such a great idea to be there!
the police came and to my surprise told me little venice has one of the highest crime rates in the city of london and that "walking around there was a very bad idea all together"
i certaintly think so i have cuts and bruises to prove it.
ps in london is quite dangerous to walk around while talking on your mobile phone. is the number one crime here, snatching phones from people at all hours of the day and night.
