Very Disappointing is an understatement!
If you are planning a trip here. i would advise against it, because as i said in the title of this review. Very disappointing is an understatement I think that EXTREMEY DISAPPOINTING is a better discription. Especially when you pay the outragiously high admission fee to enter the Zoo. It seemed to me that the website is very mis-leading and is full of false infomation!!! There was only afew (what I would consider to be) proper Zoo Animals there.
Also I think I would not be the only one to say, it seemed very run down considering the entry price you would expect a little better. Quite frankly I wonder where all the money is going? But If you do decide to go, i would say take a pack lunch as the food facilitys are also very steep! Don't say that i did'nt warn you!!!
Quite good although got completely lost
Me and two friends decided that before going home from London we should try fit in London zoo thinking we had plenty of time to get there from Camden we sat in Regents park and had lunch then carried on too London Zoo not realising how far it was it took us an hour and a half to find it in Regents park and we got there at 4pm London Zoo shut at 5.30pm It was good value for money as our hotel had given us tickets for money off so we were able to use these, one friend wanted to see the komodo and i wanted to see the lemurs we could not find either listed on sign posts so spent ages looking for them we eventually found the lemurs after nearly giving up on the other side of a tunnel, unfortunately they had been fenced off as they were nearly closing, we gave a shot at looking for the komodo dragon and just as we were exiting the park we saw a sign and quickly dashed off too find it (although the zoo had technically closed) unfortunately this had also been locked up and we couldnt see it at all, if the zoo had been adiquitely sign posted i believe we would have found these wonderful creatures in time, i will go again mainly because we really didn't have enough time to view the whole zoo, i highly recommend this as we managed to see the reptiles and the butterfly house before leaving and both exhibits were breathtaking =)
Excellent day out (for all ages...)
Went with my other half for a fun filled day out, didn't do much research before hand so had a few surprises in store, all good ones though! The reptile and aquarium bit was one surprise, and the rainforest room is worth the trip to London alone!
Fantastic day out, very impressive Tigers :-) the Lions were hiding away sleeping somewhere so we didn't see them but that was nobody's fault and really it just gave us more time to see all the other creatures.
Only one, single criticism, food at places like this is always expensive but £10.00 for ONE sandwich and ONE drink is taking the micky!
All in all we had a great day, my advice to anyone looking to go is... 1) pack a picnic, there are plenty of seating areas and some shelter for rainy days, 2) take regular breaks while walking round, the Zoo is HUGE so it is bloomin' exhausting! and 3) if you are taking kids, stick them in a pram / wheelbarrow type affair (with the picnic) or they will get grumpy once they're tired and don't tell them what animals are at the zoo, they all have hiding places which they do use on a regular basis and we saw a great number of kids screaming like banshees because the meercat.com was hiding and they couldn't see Alex from Madagascar! Better to let them see what's on offer once you get there me thinks.
If in doubt, head for the Giraffes and the penguins, they will put on a show everytime.
p.s I can't comment on the bugs room, I want no truck with creepy crawlies so avoided it like the plague.
Very disappointing
Hadn`t been here for 30 years and it has changed for the worse. Lots of building work, fenced off areas, poor signing, lamps hanging off their standards, empty runs. The walk through areas are good but really there are far better zoos in Europe. We had to queue to have our photo taken at the entrance before we got to the ticket booth. (I wanted to see and learn about animals, nothing more) . I paid the extra `donation` on top of the entrance fee and then got black looks because I wouldn`t Gift Aid it. Lots of children-friendly play areas that didnt interest me at all. How about some `adult only` areas? I wouldnt recommend this to anyone.
London Zoo, not great!
On a 3 day trip to London and unfortunately was part of a day I felt could have been spent somewhere else! It is one of the worst Zoo's I have ever been to! Most of the cages were empty and to be honest I have been to much better zoos!!
I am extremely pleased I didn't pay full price for this, £18 per adult and something litke £15 per child!! Luckily I had a 2 for 1 voucher! The butterfly house was very good and the aquarium was ok! But the rest was pretty poor! Could hardly see the Lions and when you could there was so much mesh covering it you could hardly see the animals any way!!
Wouldn't go again!
