One of the great male singer-songwriters of his generation, the ever-theatrical and ever-evolving Rufus Wainwright has successfully carved out his own singular sound, blending the worlds of rock, opera and theater, as well as dance and film. The son of folk singers Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle (and brother to Martha), his first opera, Prima Donna, made its debut at Sadler's Wells this April, to great critical acclaim. He has also composed a musical adaptation of Shakespeare Sonnets with noted Director Robert Wilson and collaborated with artists including Elton John, David Byrne, Rosanne Cash and Keane.
