If you can train it, you're on track for an adventure!
Flying in from the US, we planned to be in London for a week. With so much to do and see, we opted for the Eurostar to Paris and to Lyon. We stayed near Tower of London so leaving from King's Cross St. Pancras Station is conveniently closer than Heathrow or Gatwick.

Overall, this is a pretty amazing experience. I had decided to make a side trip to Paris while I had visited London. I honestly did not care where I sat in the train just as long as I had made it to Paris.

Such a smooth way to travel to Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, or even Lyon without all the hassles of getting to and from London-area airports. Indeed, you'll probably save lots of time and money by taking the Eurostar as opposed to taking a plane out of Heathrow or Gatwick.

Taking the Eurostar from London (St. Pancras) to Paris (Gare Du Nord) was what you expect from train ride: smooth, fast, on-time, comfortable seats, a clean train, plenty of luggage space, good amenities (two buffet cars and booze), and some great views. Boarding wasn't ideal ... and claustrophobics will hate going through the Chunnel.
