Fenton House is a beautiful 17th-century merchant's house, home to an extensive range of porcelain as well as early keyboards and other instruments.

Lady Katherine Binning bought the house in 1936 and filled it with her highly decorative collections of porcelain, Georgian furniture and 17th-century needlework. The sound of early keyboard instruments and the colours of early 20th-century drawings and paintings add to a captivating experience.

Visit, and you can enjoy panoramic views of London from the top-floor balcony, hear beautiful period music, performed on the early keyboard instruments; or, if the weather is good, you can relax in the garden or enjoy a game of croquet.

It has a fine collection of harpsichords and all kinds of beautiful things in the rooms - porcelain etc. I like the stump work best - that's a type of embroidery with raised fabrics, a bit hard to describe but just fascinating. It's not as... Mehr erfahren

You don't have to go to the country to visit a country house you know, you can just get on the Northern line to Hampstead! This National Trust gem has many examples of early keyboard instruments most of which are still in good working order, as well as needlework and paintings which date back to the 17th century when the house itself was built.

As wonderful as the house is on its own though,... Mehr erfahren

Stunning National Trust house & garden in the middle of Hampstead.

The gardens are free to walk around and they are soooo peaceful. They go on for ever and ever and it's fun trying to work out how to get to the orchid.

The house you have to pay to enter unless you are a member of the National Trust. It's worth it. The collection of beautiful keyboard instruments, porcelain, needlework and... Mehr erfahren

This is considered to be one of the most enchanting country houses in London. A charming 17th century merchant's house set in winding streets of Hampstead Village. It a delightful walled garden with a 300 year old apple orchard, a unique collection of early keyboard instruments, and outstanding collection of porcelain, rare examples of stump work-17th century needlework pictures.
