The Natural History Museum

I was looking forward to this place so much, but there was almost nothing there to hold my interest. The exhibits could have been much better - they were mostly computer-type interactive displays instead of real insects for example. In the end the only thing I could even pretend to enjoy was the animal exhibit, with the huge whale skeletons and all sizes and shapes of animals.

There is not too many interactive exhibits for kids. There is a lot to look at. The slice of a gigantic sequoia tree was quite a site. It was a fun experience and for the price, free admission, it makes a nice trip. Combining it with the Science museum next door makes for a nice day in London.

I absoluelty loved this museum!! I have studied many extinct animals, dug fossils of my own, and have a degree in Anthropology and this was my dream come true. Although I had to drag my husband in, he wasn't to hard to keep enterainted in this wonderful museum. The building alone is somethign to see. the inside is beautiful but the outside is breath taking!

Their fossil collection is simply fantastic and astounding! I could have been there for days and not have gotten tired of it! ( to bad we only stayed 3 hours..) I would reccomend this museum to everyone, there are even hands on things for children. I am taking my 12 year old sister to London this summer and you can bet that this will be one of our first stops! Learning Made fun again!

We found the Dinosaur section to be absolutely fantastic.. as we had 2 young children (one who is rather obsessed with dinosaurs) he absolutely loved it. Must admit that he was scared of the animatronix T-Rex (thats due to how real it seemed and that he's recently watched all 3 Jurassic Parks!).

The rest of the museum was ok, but a bit boring after awhile.

If we were to go back again, it would only be to look around the Dinosaur area again.

Busy, bewildering but brilliant

An excellent educational experience, and although much of the NHM is aimed at young children there is still plenty for the older visitor to enjoy. A word of warning though - going on a rainy Sunday afternoon is likely to lead to crowd rage! Avoiding the dinosaur section helps with the crowd and as this is porobably the most child focused area a quick tour round is probably all that's needed then head to the marine section to see some truly bizarre creatures from the deep.
