My husband and I saw "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Globe when we were in London the month of September. We were the chief "groundlings" and were happy to be at the front of the pack right by the stage. It was my task to make sure the area was clear when actors exited the stage via a small step between the stage and the floor of where the groundlings stood.

We stood nearly four hours and when it was all over, I couldn't feel my feet but I wouldn't trade that experience for anything. It was as though we were a part of the acting troupe and so close we could see EVERYTHING. My husband died unexpectedly three days after Christmas so all of my UK memories are quite precious. Don't put off doing something fun and unusual because of a little discomfort. You might never get another chance!

The building is impressive, just as you can imagine it! We had a great time there, I can not rate it as excellent tho, I wasn"t really prepared to stand during 3hours...(my mistake I assume!!!). But the play was amazing, the actors really good and I surely advice the place to everyone, no matter if you re keen on theatre or not!!!

fun night out

the theater was a great reconstruction. Talented actors, and great night out. I would recommend getting the standing tickets. You feel like you are pat of the show and they are cheap.

My husband and I sight-seeing and when we reached the Globe, spontaneously bought a ticket to watch As You Like It.

We bought a 5 pound ticket to watch standing (traditionally called the groundlings) where we touching the stage, cheering and jeering as participants of the scenes.

Alternatively, a 15 pound ticket will get you a seat in the globe.

We loved it, how the Shakespearean language was lifted from the pages and spilt so fluidly and emotionally from the actors mouths. We loved their interpretation and the atmosphere in the theatre especially the dance at the end.

They sell beautiful postcards of the globe too and other souveniers, reasonably priced.

If you like musicals or English reading, you must visit this place!
