ZSL London Zoo

depressing and underwhelming
What a waste of time and money!
The reviews I have just read say it all - run down, shabby, grey, a lack of animals, poor environments for the animals, so many empty cages and cabinets, lots of construction, and rip-off prices to boot! Unless you think £3.60 for 2 cups of tea is ok?
I recall walking through some monkey enclosure and seeing not one solitary monkey. A tired lion, 2 gorillas, 2 tigers, was the bst this sorry excuse for an attraction had to offer. We were in and out within 2 hours; you couldn't pay me to spend the day there.
My Favorite Place in England!!!
My husband I went to the zoo as soon as it opened planning on giving it a couple of hours time. We ended up staying a walking around the zoo for 6 hours... and still we didnt see all of the animals. We were so tired from being out in the sun that we had to go somewhere indoors, so we left. It was by far my favorite part of London! We watched one of the animal shows which was very cute and entertaining! I would reccomend this to everyone espically people with Kids!!
Halloween and Half Term at the Zoo
I took my children to London Zoo in October half term, and we had a fantastic day out, even my husband couldnt find anything to grumble about.
The zoo was celebrating Halloween, which we did not realise when we booked, but the extra activities were really good, my boys really liked the Halloween animals action show.
The activities were great but didnt take over if you didnt want to take part. All of the halloween talks were about disguise, and I was really pleased that the boys came home reciting facts they'd learned but they werent at all bored.
The gorilla kingdom is brilliant, and the big male thrilled the boys when he ate his poo, but they really loved the giraffes and the penguin feed. I was impressed with the komodo dragon home - very impressive.
All in all I'd recommend the Zoo for all year days out, there was lots to do inside so its still good for winter days out.
A waste of time & money............
Family of four travelled weekend 13th September 2008. Getting over the shock of paying £60.00 to get in (I know, I know...some of the money goes towards the undoubted good work of the society), I was shocked & saddened to see just how much the zoo looks tired, run down & decrepit. Not only have the elepahnts & rhinos gone (I admit to more spacious surroundings) but the rest? Tatyy with large parts of it closed for rennovation (the petting zoo) and others unoccupied as animals have been moved and as their former houses/pens are "listed buildings, there's not much the zoo can do to them".
We stopped for lunch - two sandwiches, two kids sandwich boxes, two coffees...not much change from £30.00...total rip-off.
Kids wanted to see the feeding of penguins...what an utter shambles - too many people, not enough room and, alas, too many adults pushing in front of the kids. Shameful...
All in all, a waste of money...the zoo should be closed down & the funds raised (however that might be) spent on conservation rather than passing this off as a major tourist attraction.
London Zoo, not great!
On a 3 day trip to London and unfortunately was part of a day I felt could have been spent somewhere else! It is one of the worst Zoo's I have ever been to! Most of the cages were empty and to be honest I have been to much better zoos!!
I am extremely pleased I didn't pay full price for this, £18 per adult and something litke £15 per child!! Luckily I had a 2 for 1 voucher! The butterfly house was very good and the aquarium was ok! But the rest was pretty poor! Could hardly see the Lions and when you could there was so much mesh covering it you could hardly see the animals any way!!
Wouldn't go again!
