Thames Clipper runs along the river from the London Eye to Greenwich, with stops in between at various piers. An "open secret", it's way more comfortable than the Tube and only slightly more expensive than a Zone 1 to Zone 2 ticket.

I bought a ticket on the street near Embankment, was asked to show it on the dock. Was asked again to see it on the water. And again departing the boat. It was tougher getting through Immigration at LHR.

This depot is the pier for the River Bus/Taxi that transports you along the river to various sites avoiding London traffic and crowds. This is a great and inexpensive way to travel to the Eye, Tower of London and other tourist sites. Along the way, the boat guide gives you an audio overview and you have great views of the bridges on the Thames.

Quick, fun, inexpensive...
On my recent visit to London, I realized I had never taken the boat along the Thames... SHAME! What another way to see the city! I used my travel card to supplement the cost between my stops from Embankment to Greenwich. A nice way to bring variety to getting about.

Lovely part of the River Thames. From the pier, halfway between Embankment and Westminster stations is a spot where you can directly see the London Eye and a great view of the New Year's Eve fireworks. I watched the fireworks every year from different viewpoints along the Thames but obviously here is the best spot.
