The fish & chips were not very good, very disappointing. The beer and pot pie was pretty good, but all in all not worth the relatively high prices. more

After a long day of site seeing I really wanted to love this place, warm up and have some good food. It was full of people so that's always a good sign. I ordered the fish and chips, it's my husbands fave and since he was not able to travel with me the choice was to send him some love and to have an authentic UK pub experience.

Not bad food. Good service. Decent beer. Popped in for a quick bite while site seeing. I got the Sunday Roast, with Yorkshire puddings and vegetables (broccoli, potatoes and something else). Was okay but not great. Gravy had good flavor though. My sweetheart got the burger and fries, which was also just okay: meat was a little over cooked and dry. Drank an IPA and a Blue Moon, both were solid. more

Such a great find! Old Shades has a full menu, but nothing overwhelming. We tried the fish and chips, the fish portion was huge and the reading was great, thick and salted nicely. It came with smashed peas, which I have no taste for, but my family loved them, and chips of course, which were piping hot and very good.

This is a gorgeous pub. Lovely dark wood and beautiful old fashioned tiles. It has a great vibe to it.
