The original Rough Trade and still the best. Visiting this independent record store is a bit like time travel; when I first arrived in London this is what all good record stores were like: crammed with records and scruffy men browsing through the sections for hours. It now only gets really packed on Record Store Day when collectors queue around the corner to grab one of the special editions... more

I'm a big music buff so whenever I'm around East or West London I always pass away the time but looking in to the many range of records and books. It now also has a little café in the entrance. My favourite thing about this place is not just the location but the fact they do daily in store gigs with some of the newest and most established bands in town. London is known for their record stores and even though Rough Trade Records was a flat floor I was severely overwhelmed. Record stores are like jewelry stores to me.

The Canadian dollar wasn't in my favour but it was cool to see some U.K. Variations of common releases.

I actually spent a good 2 hours here. The time just seemed to melt away flipping through records.

I knew about Shoreditch's rough trade, but bumping into this was a surprise, and what a great one. For all edgy music lovers, it's definitely a must. My tips? Get in there, ask what's playing and note it down. Then check the poster on the wall where with their best albums of the year (so far)...Select 2 or 3 records that you haven't heard of, and ask to listen to them...big chance you're going... more

Rough Trade is atremendous

record store.The cafe at the front side is best except you are looking for a

place to stay without eating or drinking booze, and in that case you should be

prepared to sit on uncomfortable chairs. more
