Strada is a big restaurant with a lot of people packed in and closely set tables. Expect to brush by your neighbours on your way to your seat and forgive them as they flap a coat or swing a bag in your face as they get up to leave. I'm not sure why somewhere as busy and lovely as the Southbank struggles in the restaurant department. It is mostly a series of chain restaurants punctuated by restaurants which aren't taking the best advantage of the river location (Oxo Tower), or those which serve plain awful food (Skylon, but that's a chain too). Came here as we were looking for something quick and reasonable to eat. We were seated instantly indoors which was good as we had a party of 5. The menu itself was very generic however there was enough to cater to the party. We were served promptly and our hostess was able to substitute any sides/extras we required with our meals. Despite all the bad ratings, I thought the restaurant was great! The view if you sit outside is great because you can see the Tower Bridge and I thought the prices were low despite the location. I had the seafood risotto and it was more than I expected. The service was good in my opinion and is better 2 1/2 stars. more
Been to other Stradas with better service and food. Was disappointed yesterday.
The restaurant is at an ideal location on the Southbank, so there is always quite a lot of people.
The restaurant wasn't full and we got seated straight away. We ordered some cocktails and olives which were quite nice even though we had to wait quite a while for the 2 cocktails to be served.
