Happy Days has a darker past than its cheery name might suggest; it’s situated in the area where Jack the Ripper struck fear into Londoners through a series of mysterious murders.
Located on Goulston Street in Whitechapel, the restaurant is on the same site that a piece of bloody cloth thought to belong to one of the victims was found. It’s one of the few clues the killer left behind.
The restaurant pays homage to its murky history with a series of themed prints and newspaper clippings but remains an inviting spot for lunch with warm brick walls and delicious fish and chips.
