About

Feel like royalty when you visit The King’s Gallery (formerly known as the Queen's Gallery) at Buckingham Palace.

The gallery is a permanent space dedicated to changing exhibitions of items from the Royal Collection, the wide-ranging collection of art and treasures held in trust by the monarch for the nation.

What is there to see at The King's Gallery?

Dedicated to works of art from the Royal Collection, The King's Gallery was constructed in 1962 at Buckingham Palace, out of the bomb-damaged ruins of a chapel destroyed in an air raid in 1940. The innovative and modern art gallery is one of the most significant additions to Buckingham Palace in 150 years.

In addition to gems from the Royal Collection, there's a changing programme of temporary exhibitions, featuring old master paintings, rare furniture, decorative arts and images from the photograph collection.

What is the current exhibition?

The current exhibition at The King's Gallery is Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style – a landmark showcase of around 300 items from the late Queen’s wardrobe, with highlights including her bridesmaid dress, wedding dress and magnificent Coronation dress.

Staged to mark the centenary of Queen Elizabeth II’s birth, the unique collection displays clothing, jewellery, accessories and never-before-seen design sketches. Selected from the Royal Collection, these pieces make up the largest exhibition of the late Queen’s fashion ever staged.

The exhibition runs from 10 April 2026 until 18 April 2027 and entry is included in the cost of a standard ticket to the gallery.

How can I get tickets?

Tickets for the King's Gallery and its exhibition Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style are sold out. Check back later for tickets to the gallery's next exhibitions.

However, you can still visit Buckingham Palace this summer - book Buckingham Palace tickets and explore the State Rooms during the Summer Opening.

How long does it take to explore?

It takes approximately one and a half hours to explore The King’s Gallery. However, each exhibition may vary.

Where is The King's Gallery?

The King’s Gallery is located on Buckingham Palace Road in central London.
