Situated in a pretty courtyard moments from Holborn and The British Museum, Truckles is an oasis of calm. The menu features classic British fayre, using carefully sourced seasonal produce with light bites and more substantial main dishes. Needless to say, wine lovers are well looked after with a carefully selected list from Davy's Wine Merchants' renowned cellar. Truckles is well-placed to cater for private events in its atmospheric cellars.

Great little bar with outside seating on a warm summer evening for a drink or two.
Special offer available too with two courses with a glass of wine for £15 not bad..
Very close to the British museum for those on a cultural visit.
Within a residential area so please be quiet when leaving... more
Great local upscale-ish bar in a hidden `courtyard across the British museum.
I went a little in the afternoon so it was still pretty empty with a few businessmen/women lingering over lunch. Otherwise outside in their glorious outdoor terrace is where you wanna be on a sunny Summer day.
They serve wine so that's why I call it upscale. Most of the pubs I've seen didn't have French... more
HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS PLACE EXISTED?!
I don't want to yell this too loudly as, actually, I don't entirely want everyone to know about this cozy, tucked away wine bar. I really do feel like I've failed as Londoner who works in Holborn, not knowing about it's existence until now.
For me the bar's virtues don't really hinge on the (very nice) wine list or the (standard but decent) bar menu... more
I wasn't there for too long. But it was a super busy Friday evening and we were having a client-drinks evening and there were an enormous number of people.
The most bizzarre thing happened - I was waiting for 10 minutes at the bar with others after ordering my drink but no drink was forthcoming. Apparently they were out of glasses. Double-U Tee Eff. more
A very cozy pub and restaurant with a cute courtyard out front. Upstairs is a wine bar with seating. There's a full bar divided from the rest of the restaurant downstairs. Didn't get the chance to dine here, instead just mingled with my program group in the bar area. Would imagine it would be nicer to visit with a smaller group. more
