The CoffeeWorks Project is the perfect place to stop off for a hot drink and a bite to eat when exploring the independent retailers in Angel.
This small chain takes coffee seriously and uses an impressive piece of kit for the espresso machine. Baristas manually pump coffee with a paddle and leaver allowing complete control to highlight individual flavour profiles of the different coffees.
While espresso is the main event here, there’s also a range of speciality teas and fresh food made daily in the in-house kitchen with charcuterie, sandwiches and cakes to nibble on.

This specialty coffee shop definitely has a trendier feel to it. You can't take drinks to-stay onto the back patio (it's for take-away drinks only; they said it's because of some code). I appreciated that the staff gave me a cup of ice to pour my tap water over... more
If you like sipping great coffee and watching a bunch of hipsters then this is the place to go! Haha. But no the coffee is really good. The one issue for me is it's always so damn pack but I guess that's a good sign. If you can find a spot, they have great WiFi and it's a decent place to get some work done. more
Good coffee is hard to come by in London, and so when you find one you gotta spread the love.
Located just next to angel, it's a quant little store operated by Aussies (straight away must be decent).
The roast house blend is just right in terms of strength and the flavour of the brew brings the flavour of home.
The store is a nice joint for catch up too and especially good for those who... more
Lovely latte! In a medium/small cup just the way I like it.
Cool space and nice staff. It's nice to see a couple of independent coffee shops on this side of upper street as most places around are chains.
I don't think they do any hot food by their cakes and pastries looked yum so will have to come back!
Update: their back garden takes them to 5 stars more
The coffee is nice, but the real reason you might want to make a special trip here is the food and the pastries.
Yes, it's mostly your typical coffeeshop fare, and the quality isn't through the roof, but you'll find the occasional gorgeous cookie or delicious burger/sandwich to compliment the java perfectly.
My favorites are the brioche doughnuts and thick chocolate and vegan oat cookies... more
