A little run down, but the people were nice and the food was pretty good. The clientele seems to be pretty much all tourists given the location next to major hotels. Plenty of fresh beer on tap. Can't go wrong, really. more
I had a most pleasant time at Stanhope Arms. Went to meet up with a friend and he had suggested this place since I'm not a local. I believe it was a Tuesday night. You can tell it has a broken-in feel, not shiny new but not tattered.

The meat pie and lasagne were great. The lasagne wad not like the traditional Italian lasagna we were used to. This lasagne had cheddar cheese and béchamel sauce! The meat pie had a flaky crust and good inside. The sides of veggies and potatoes were nothing to write home about but the main dishes more than made up for it. Third time at this pub in 6 days. The staff are very friendly and engaging. The food and beer and service are great. One of the waitstaff, a young lady from Romania was excellent and the manager Mijols remembered us every time we showed up and was extremely friendly and accommodating. I come to London every summer and will definitely come back to this pub over and over.
Stopped by this place yesterday for some drinks and fish & chips. My wife ordered a dry Rose. They were out so the bartender insisted the California Rose which tasted like desert wine. Too sweet and syrupy. Wanted to switch the other but had to deal with rolling eyes. He discussed with manager but manager shook her head too.
