This is a well stocked and friendly independent book shop in Stoke Newington. Really friendly actually, even by Stokey standards. I tend to browse rather than buy here because with all the charity shops and second hand book stores in the area it's often not necessary to buy new books, unless you are looking for something specific. A proper bookshop...but more importantly, and independent one!
I really like this place and am so happy that they still exist despite the convenience of online shopping. But it's actually at shops like this where I get inspired for a next book. I'm pretty much fed up with the personalisation of Amazon; while they probably know what I like, they cannot tell me what I might also like.

This large and popular bookstore is a good place to pick up a weekend's worth of reading. I find bookshops cozy places to browse around in, and I enjoyed the experience of this small but well stoked local bookstore. Frequented by many of the literati that live in the whereabouts of Stoke Newington, this spacious store also hosts book readings by local authors, and an occasional poetry night.... more
This is a nice, friendly local bookshop. It's great for window shopping the latest books, and easy to browse around once you get inside. It's also handy for last minute birthday cards, with a good selection of art/humourous/photographic cards to choose from (but not cheap).

Before I lived in n16 I visited this place so it must have been worth the travel.
It's got a roomy layout and a relaxed atmosphere. Books are organised such that they are easy to find. Staff are helpful and seem to actually have a knowldege of their subject matter - unlike a certain mystery and crime shop in the west end I visited recently.
