About
Topolski is a cafe-come-art-exhibition on the Southbank.
Launched in collaboration with the artist Topolski's family, the new opening is a café by day and a bar by night and replaces the former Topolski Century art bunker. The venue will continue to exhibit Topolski’s work as part of the interior design for the space.
The concise all-day menu takes its cue from a range of European cuisines, reflecting the artist’s eye for eccentricities and interest in world culture. Featuring quality sourced produce presented in a clean and simple manner, the menu – created by chef Bruce Wilson - is split into sections: Bakery, Lunch, Rationes, Sandwiches and Sweets, Cakes and Puddings.
Ensuring that Topolski will be closely linked with the cultural heritage of the area, British designers Wayne and Jack Hemingway will curate a regular programme of events taking place at the bar in the evening. The initial line-up showcases an eclectic mix of musicians, featuring cabaret artists, DJs and world music and a weekly game show club night hosted by the colourful Count Indigo.
In the evenings, the bar provides a new drinks destination for the workers, residents and visitors to Southbank. Offering a reduced food menu in the evening, a mixture of small plates and sharing platters of cured meats and fishes are offered alongside a carefully selected wine list, infused vodkas and array of craft European beers.
