About

Following five record-breaking seasons at various West End theatres, 2:22 A Ghost Story is bringing its supernatural thrills to the Gielgud Theatre. This limited season features a brand new cast including Stacey Dooley (BBC TV presenter) and James Buckley (The Inbetweeners).

Do you believe in ghost stories, or are you brave enough to discover the truth hiding frightening events? Prepare yourself for an adrenaline-packed night where shocking secrets emerge when you least expect them.

What is 2:22 A Ghost Story?

Jenny is convinced that her new home is haunted, but her husband Sam is skeptical and can't understand why she would entertain such an idea. As they host their first dinner guests—long-time friend Laura and her new partner, also named Sam—the evening's conversation quickly spirals into a heated debate about the supernatural.

Despite their differing views on the cause of the strange events, as night falls, everyone feels an unsettling presence in the house. Whether it's ghosts and ghouls or tricks of the mind, the two couples agree to settle their debate by staying awake until 2.22am, determined to uncover the truth once and for all.

Prepare for a thrilling night filled with curious clues as skepticism clashes with the conviction that something truly eerie is unfolding.

2:22 A Ghost Story award-winning cast

The award-winning play, 2:22 A Ghost Story, was written by Danny Robbins, creator of the popular podcast The Battersea Poltergeist, and directed by Olivier-nominated Matthew Dunster.

Following the unwavering success of this production, 2:22 A Ghost Story returns in 2024 to the West End for another season and is now showing at the Gielgud Theatre with its sixth production. The show’s current star-studded cast includes Donna Air (The Split, Hollyoaks) as Lauren, BAFTA nominee James Buckley (The Inbetweeners) as Ben, Joe McFadden (Holby City) as Sam, and Stacey Dooley (BBC documentary presenter) as Jenny.

The play premiered on the London West End in June 2021 at the Noel Coward Theatre starring UK pop sensation Lily Allen as Jenny. The first production was nominated for three Laurence Olivier Awards, including best new play and best actress for Lily Allen for her first West End show.

The production returned in 2023 with new stars, featuring Sophia Bush (One Tree Hill) and Ricky Champ (Eastenders).
