From the surveillance of vulnerable communities to the censoring of female bodies, This Is Private probes into our public lives and private fears to explore a topic that is rooted in contradiction. Through discussion, debate, performance, film, poetry and visual art the season will reflect on questions such as who, in an era of social media surveillance and censorship, willingly gives away their right to privacy and whose rights are taken away? And, how can we protect our individuality whilst being part of a community that places such value on sharing personal information? Taking place at Free Word's versatile event space and venue in Clerkenwell, London, This Is Private is the first in a series of regular themed seasons examining some of the most urgent and pressing issues of our time. Featuring Zia Ahmed, Momtaza Mehri, Soofiya, Blake Morrison, Lowkey, Kareem Parkins Brown, gal-dem and many more. UK Drill & Grime - What's the Problem? is a panel discussion with Grime MC P Money reflecting on what the banning of drill and grime music says about censorship within youth culture, and forms a prelude to the season's events.
