The U.K.'s biggest cabaret talent competition enters its 14th year and looks set to be the biggest one yet, with a total of 19 LGBTQI+ venues competing and holding individual heats to find their venue representative to send forward to the UK competition finals. The RVT heats begin on May 3rd and culminate in the RVT final on 31st May to find the venue representative to go forward to the UK semi finals, the RVT heats will be hosted by Son-Of-A-Tutu and we have a panel of distinguished judges to oversee the competition and choose our heat winners. Drag Idol still remains one of the few competitions on the live scene that can genuinely launch careers on the drag and cabaret circuit and has produced some of the brightest talents on the queer and cabaret scene including La Voix, Louis CyFer, Son of aTutu, Vileda Moppe, Kelly Mild, Danny Beard, Baga Chipz, Martha D'Arthur, Tanya Hyde and last years' winner; Tracy Barlow to name a few. Even contestants who don't win have attributed their careers to the exposure that drag Idol bought them. This years' competition is hosted by Crystal D'Canter and Kelly Mild for the third year running which, under their watchful and beautifully made up eyes, has expanded and grown to include more venues than ever before. The competition has developed since its inception and now reflects the diverse LGBTQ+ scene it represents mirroring the diverse, fluid and exciting performances which makes up our queer scene.
