Botanical Sketchbooks Workshop at Forty Hall & Estate
From to
About
Sketchbooks are a useful tool for botanical artists. Botanical sketchbooks document the process from preparatory sketches through to final accomplished paintings and are full of creative observations, colour studies, notes and first impressions. On this 4-week course you will select a seasonal flower such as a rose, peony, lily, sunflower, hyacinth or orchid. With tutor support, you will learn how to use your sketchbooks to interpret and explore your chosen plant using a variety of techniques including observational drawing, field notes, tonal sketching, colour mixing and adding washes, layers and detail. As part of the course, you learn how to curate and promote an exhibition via conversations with visiting programming and exhibition staff. Drawings and sketch books will be exhibited alongside animations produced during the Create! Animate! Course at Forty Hall from 5 July - 2nd September.
