From William Byrd's resplendent treatment of Psalm 150 to Arvo Part's setting of the Genealogy of Christ from St Luke's Gospel, the first half of the programme is a celebration of life culminating in a newly commissioned work by composer-in-residence, Russell Hepplewhite, entitled Endless Time setting poetry by Rabindranath Tagore. John Sheppard's haunting masterpiece, Media Vita, then introduces Hepplewhite's setting of the Christina Rossetti poem, Paradise: In a Dream before Sir John Tavener's ethereal Svyati for choir and cello solo brings the journey to a celestial close. There will be a pre-concert talk at 6.30pm
