"The Magnificent 7 cemeteries of London" refers to the top seven cemeteries in built in Victorian times to accommodate an overflowing population . Highgate, Brompton, Kensal Green, West Norwood, Nunhead, Abney Park and Tower Hamlets. An article in the local newspaper a few years ago inspired me to explore these social spaces and create sketches which led on to a series of works in Original prints and mixed media drawings. Each cemetery has it's own character and what inspires me most is the way life has a way of growing and overflowing where man has left his mark. Where ivy, weeds and a wide variety of plants and wildlife meet cold stone monuments and urban decay. Where the footsteps of the past are echoes found broken and mingling with nature.
