This new work, performed in-the-round, is based on a mythical blind humanoid creature, derived from Japanese urban legend, that sees through the palms of its hands. EDIFICE dance theatre draws on the notion of 'seeing' through touch, flesh contact and intuition, to explore the importance of meaningful, physical human connection. Combining the flow of Contact improvisation and the rhythms, dynamics and attack of ballroom, four dancers discover a sensual and mysterious exchange of movement heightening their sense of 'sight' through touch. "Edifice is a new force to be reckoned with...keep your eyes peeled for their next tour dates." Nicolas Kyprianou EDIFICE Dance Theatre are a UK based dance theatre company that explore a hybrid approach to partner work using contact improvisation and ballroom. EDIFICE is co-directed by choreographer-dancer duo Carmine De Amicis and Harriet Waghorn, who both specialise in Latin, Ballroom and Contemporary dance. TENOME (Eyes on Hand) is supported by the Arts Council England and is a co-production with EDIFICE Dance Theatre, The Cockpit London and St Mary in the Castle Hastings.
