Cheryl Campbell takes to the stage to perform the fourth monologue in Juliet Ace's popular radio drama series for Radio 4, with direction by Nancy Meckler. The first three monologues, played on Radio 4 and Radio 4 Extra, have each been repeated over 35 times, and follow the story of Mattie Potter. After a career in teaching and acting, Juliet Ace began writing at the age of 38. Since then, she has written extensively for film, television and radio. Her film Cameleon was shown at Cannes, invited to The Edinburgh Festival and won awards in San Francisco, Wurtenburg and The Celtic Film Festival. In 2012, she completed a memoir of the actor Terence Rigby called Rigby Shlept Here. It was five years into her cancer diagnosis that Juliet Ace began writing the fourth monologue, Moving the Goalposts, in her head. She had no energy or stamina to write it down. But one day, in an isolated spurt of determination, she managed to get it all down on paper, propped up by cushions. Ace is grateful for the treatment and care she has received from UCHL and the Macmillan Cancer Centre and is a devoted fan of the NHS.
