Celebrate with us as Southbank Centre's gamelan returns to the site of its inaugural performance at Queen Elizabeth Hall. Thirty years ago, Southbank Centre's beautiful Javanese gamelan (percussion orchestra) - a gift of friendship from the government of the Republic of Indonesia to the people of Great Britain - was inaugurated with a performance in Queen Elizabeth Hall. Welcome the return of the gamelan to the same space as Southbank Gamelan Players, with special guests Lila Bhawa Indonesian Dance UK, showcase mesmerising music and dance from Java and celebrate the heritage of the gamelan programme and its impact throughout the UK.
