2018 marks 100 years since Parliament passed a law which allowed some women (and all men) to vote for the first time. To celebrate this milestone, in August 2018 we are running a short season of 'From Petitions to Prime Ministers: A Short History of Women in Parliament' guided tours. Led by a 'Blue Badge' guide, this 90 minute tour traces the journey from the early petitioning for women's suffrage to the UK's first two female Prime Ministers and the prominent role of women in Parliament today. During the tour you will have the opportunity to enter both the Commons Chamber and the Lords Chamber and also discover why St Stephen's Hall and Central Lobby played such a key part in the 'Votes for Women!' story. The tour ends in medieval Westminster Hall where you can visit the interactive 'Voice and Vote: Women's Place in Parliament' exhibition and take time to enjoy the continually changing 'New Dawn' light sculpture that celebrates all those involved the campaign for women's suffrage.
