Louis XIV fancied himself as the New Apollo, god of light and the arts, and all the king's men, and foremost amongst them the great Lully, helped forge the legend of the Sun King. From morn till deepest night-time, Versailles, palace of all pleasures, resonated with the most sublime harmonies, becoming the envy of all Europe. Mealtimes, fetes, state visits, chapel were enlivened by the different formations that comprised the King's music. This programme was created following Fuoco E Cenere's participation in the popular original television series produced by Canal +, Versailles.
