LAID BLAK One of Bristol's most exciting and loved live bands for the London launch of their eagerly anticipated second album. Be one of the first to see 'About Time' performed live before the band tour it across Europe. The Laid Blak sound takes massive inspiration from ska and reggae, but has often been described as 'street soul'. The influences are broad and represent sounds that define the eclecticness of Bristol music, from reggae, to dancehall, soul, hip hop, funk and jazz, whilst of course never forgetting their jungle heritage. It's all in the blend and the result is a fun filled sunshine dance music that keeps your feet moving and your face smiling. The band originally signed to Brown Punk Records, a label run by former Massive Attack legend Tricky and Chris Blackwell (founder of Island Records and the man who discovered Bob Marley), then went onto release their debut album red&blak on Bristol based label Reel Me Records. Sharing stages with many heavyweights from the world of reggae music and beyond including Toots and Maytals, Desmond Dekker, Damian Marley, Nitin Sawhney, Ed Sheeran who is famed with ending all his gigs with 'Red' a Laid Blak track, John Legend, Luciano, Congo Natty, Tricky, The Wailers, Easy Star All-Stars and Lee Scratch Perry. THE SCRIBES Multi-award winning party hip hop 3 piece THE SCRIBES whose unique blend of beatboxing, off the cuff freestyling and genre-spanning music has created a live show unlike any other on the scene today, with appeal ranging far beyond hip hop fans.
