Five days of free screenings, special guest masterclasses, performances, DJ nights and one exhibition celebrating what it means to be a young artist in England in 2018. This free festival brings together emerging artists alongside established filmmakers to tackle issues such as making films on a budget, the voice of young people within the media, and how female filmmakers are building networks of resistance. Alongside live performances and screening events, the Playback Exhibition will show over 300 short films made by artists aged 16-24 from across the country. From films about nightclub bouncers and chicken shops to gothic fantasies, musicals and hand-drawn animation, these ground-breaking shorts, made with Channel 4's Random Acts series, promise a future beyond stereotypes and barriers.
