Be whisked away into a world of dreams with Dream On at the V&A Museum of Childhood, which explores our relationship with the unconscious and imaginary world through art.
Are objects inanimate items, or do they come to life when we’re not looking? Examine Christie Brown’s ceramic figures, tableaux and photographs in Ludus Est and Baby House Dreams. These installations are based on her own childhood dreams and museum items, including dolls that are seemingly brought to life.
Other highlights include a surreal sculpture by children at St George’s Hospital Tooting, focusing on the notion of the museum’s collection becoming active when the lights are switched off.
The dreams of local children at Lauriston Primary School Hackney are also reimagined in the form of staged photographs, assisted by photographer Madeleine Waller and artist Katherine Tulloh.
