The South East Schools' Chamber Music Festival was founded in 2011 by Harrow, North London Collegiate and Wycombe Abbey Schools to encourage and motivate chamber music playing for the many talented young musicians in schools.
The Festival hosts ensembles from numerous schools across London and the South East of England, and each year the number of ensembles and the overall quality of playing has increased.
Every ensemble taking part receives a short coaching session after they perform in the Qualifying round, given by the Festival's Artistic Director Richard Ireland. The best performances across the three age ranges are then selected from these rounds to be included in one of two Festival Concerts; one at the prestigious St John's Smith Square concert venue in central London and the other hosted by one of the founding schools.
