The discovery of Cecile B. de Mille's Ten Commandments film set, buried in the sands of California for nearly 90 years, is the point of departure for And If In a Thousand Years (2017) by Patrick Hough (b. 1989, Ireland), which explores the intersection of artefact, cinema, film, CGI and laser-scanning technology.
In Shadowland (2014) John Skoog (b. 1985, Sweden) also offers sweeping views of the California landscape used in Hollywood films as a stand-in for different parts of the world, overlaying this footage with original film soundtracks and recordings, creating a disjunct between reality and the cinematic construct.
Life is Like (2015) by ?rjan Amundsen (b. 1982, Norway) is a fast-paced collage of images drawn from the internet, television and cinema, highlighting the exciting and overwhelming nature of technology and existence.
