Wednesday 17 January 2018 5.45-7pm: Inaugural Stanley Kubrick Lecture from Peter Kramer, biography below. 6-9pm: Launch Night LCC's Screen School presents Beyond 2001: New Horizons, an exhibition that explores how activating the archive can creatively enable the development of new work and inform ideas. Exhibition: Thursday 18 January - Friday 16 February 2018 Celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the Stanley Kubrick Archive at the University's Archives and Special Collections Centre, students will produce and show work alongside invited artists and academics that offer new perspectives inspired by archive material from 2001: A Space Odyssey. A cross-school collaboration celebrating all things screen, the exhibition will be set in motion with accompanying performances, events, panels and workshops, punctuated by screenings for staff and students. #Beyond2001 Peter Kramer is a Senior Fellow in the School of Art, Media and American Studies at the University of East Anglia (Norwich, UK) as well as a regular guest lecturer at Masaryk University (Brno, Czech Republic) and at the University of Television and Film Munich (Germany). He is the author and editor of eight books, including two BFI Film Classics on Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb and 2001: A Space Odyssey, a volume on A Clockwork Orange in Palgrave's 'Controversies' series and Stanley Kubrick: New Perspectives (Black Dog, 2015, co-edited with Tatjana Ljujic and Richard Daniels). He has also published numerous essays on the career and films of Stanley Kubrick, taught adult education classes as well as university courses on the filmmaker, spoken about him at public events, and contributed to podcasts and new Blu-ray editions of his films.
