Royal wedding timings

  • The royal wedding takes place in St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle at 12pm.
  • At 1pm, the newlyweds partake in a carriage procession through Windsor Town.
  • The couple then join their wedding guests for a reception at St George’s Hall.

The wedding is likely to be televised, but this has not yet been confirmed.

Royal wedding celebrations in London

Celebrations are taking place across London - including the chance to raise a glass to the happy couple as pubs in England and Wales stay open until 1am on Friday and Saturday.

Afternoon tea and cakes

  • Tuck into The Rubens at The Palace’s Royal Afternoon Tea, which takes inspiration from royal dining trends throughout the centuries.  
  • You can even make your own afternoon tea with The Berkeley’s Royal Prêt-à-Portea Masterclass.
  • Enjoy the Royal Afternoon Tea at The Savoy, boasting the Queen’s favourite cake of chocolate ganache, rich tea biscuits and rum-soaked raisins. Alternatively, try The Royal Wedding, a new cocktail created to mark Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding. 1-31 May
  • Treat yourself to Anna’s Afternoon Tea at Grosvenor House, featuring pastries inspired by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, such as The Invictus, made with ginger curd, and The LA Special, with green apple and coriander mousse. 1-31 May  
  • Sample the sweet creations from Violet Bakery, the east London cake shop that will make the royal wedding cake.
  • Have a go at making your own lemon and elderflower cake (the same flavour chosen for the royal weddding cake) at the Cookery School at Little Portland Street's afternoon tea class. 13 May

Tours and sightseeing

  • Be amazed by beautiful botanical displays as Chelsea in Bloom’s floral art show pays homage to the royal wedding with a special Summer of Love theme. 21-26 May
  • Take a Thames Rockets breathtaking speedboat ride on the Thames, and celebrate Harry and Meghan’s wedding with Union Jack flags and a glass of Pimm's. 17-20 May
  • Discover Harry’s favourite London spots on Traditional Tours UK’s Prince Harry Tour of London. Sundays from April to October.
  • Head to Madame Tussauds, and rub shoulders with the royal family’s wax figures in the new Royal Balcony display. Meghan Markle’s likeness will be unveiled in early May.  
  • Take a leisurely stroll around pretty Connaught Village as the area is decorated with red, white and blue flower beds to celebrate the royal wedding.
  • Get on an original 1960s Routemaster and enjoy a bus tour and afternoon tea through London’s most famous royal spots. Learn about afternoon tea etiquette and the history of royal weddings as you tuck into a delicious array of sandwiches, cakes and pastries. Various dates
