A surprise is in store for anyone that peers inside one of the 448 special Kilner jars forming Stéphane Masson’s Supercube installation in St James’s Market.
A miniature giraffe, a pink elephant or a familiar face are just some of the many images that you might find inside one of Masson’s multi-coloured jars. You can even spot a miniature version of yourself inside the jars, as Masson brings a mix of projection with a good sprinkling of magic to the dark London nights.
French artist Masson has been hijacking everyday objects for art projects since 2004. Devoted to injecting craziness into our everyday lives, his previous works include The Aquarium Car (La Voiture Aquarium), Kissing Lamps (Les Lampadiares a Bisous), and interactive video recording The Box of Words.
While in the area, enjoy ribs, burgers and more alongside film memorabilia at Planet Hollywood, or explore St James’s Market’s eclectic eateries, such as contemporary Japenese dishes at Anzu or freshly baked bread at Ole & Steen, which offers light Scandinavian fare, wine, beer and coffee. You’re also a short walk from shopping hotspots Jermyn Street, Piccadilly and Regent Street, as well as the other installations in London's West End.
The programme may be subject to change or cancellation due to circumstances beyond the event organiser's control.
Lumiere London is a free festival produced by Artichoke - a small charity with big ideas. Artichoke creates art for the enjoyment and wellbeing of millions of people. Your donations enable them to help keep their events free and support their work around the UK.
