Grayson Perry, Jo Brand and Jenny Eclair are among over 350 contributors of artworks created on envelopes for The National Brain Appeal charity's 'A Letter in Mind' fundraising art exhibition at gallery@oxo from 28 September to 1 October. All the artworks use a simple envelope as a starting point. They are identically priced at £85 and sold anonymously, raising vital funds for The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, the UK's leading centre of excellence for treating diseases of the brain, spine and nervous system. The artist's name and biography will be revealed at the end of the exhibition. In response to the theme 'A Sense of Place', artists have showcased places important to them personally, socially, historically or geographically. The exhibition comprises of beautiful, moving and thought- provoking pieces from the international art world and places as diverse as Peru, Goa and Budapest. A host of well-known artists have donated new works, including: Grayson Perry, Royal Academy Summer Exhibition exhibitor Frank Kiely; award-winning illustrator Chris Haughton; Natasha Kidd and National Open Art World Art Vote shortlisted artist Gill Rocca; artist, curator and magazine editor Harry Pye; actors Kevin Eldon, James Fleet, Phyllida Law and Sophie Thompson; comedians, actors and writers Jo Brand and Jenny Eclair; and award winning architects Laurie Chetwood and 2017 RIBA Stirling Prize Shortlisted architect Amin Taha. As well as professional artists, the exhibition showcases contributions from artists who have themselves been patients or whose family has been affected by the work of The National Hospital.
