Howard Skempton voice and accordion
Howard Skempton has made two delightful visits to Club Inegales in Euston, performing his solo accordion pieces and singing and playing with the ensemble. Tonight will feature new arrangements and improvisation with Howard and the band together including In Cuba they play with maracas, Chorale Inegales, Show me the limelight, Trapeze and a 70th birthday tribute to American composer Christian Wolff, entitled Forget the Minuet.
Notes Inegales is devoted to improvisation as well as written music, and to devising new work alongside composers/other artists as well as playing contemporary repertoire. 'Notes inegales' refers to the swung, jazz-like, rhythmic inflections in French baroque music.
